During the Christmas season, gifting is on our minds. For some of us, we have had gifts hid for a while!
I love giving gifts. I love seeing the reaction of the receiver when it is opened. I, too, love being on the receiving end. Over the years, I have been given amazing gifts.
Christmas is so commercialized. The gifting overshadows the real meaning of Christmas. Too often, in the hustle and bustle, Jesus is left out in the cold. Yes, Jesus, the one who longs to warm the hearts of weary souls. Jesus who longs to be the greatest gift one could ever receive goes UNOPENED!
Let’s take a stroll back in time, 2000 plus years back in time. It is a beautiful star lite night. Then without warning, amongst the shepherds came an angel proclaiming, “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” This account found n Luke 2. A baby was born! Not just any baby, he was the only son of God Almighty. Emmanuel, God with us! Ponder with me this baby. Imagine those precious baby eyes. Those same eyes that saw the creation of the world. His hands, oh so tiny, had measured the vastness of the universe. The little sounds coming from him, had SPOKE creation into existence. Those tiny feet had walked the very world He created. Heaven’s love sent down. A baby born with a mission……to save the world!
The greatest gift, SALVATION, a FREE GIFT to mankind. A gift with eternity in view. My greatest gift, being a Child of God. A gift that at the age of eight, I simply accepted with childlike faith and BELIEVED!
This gift of Christmas, still as real as it was 2000 plus years ago. If you have not received this gift, it would be the GREATEST GIFT you would EVER be given! Unwrap HIS LOVE! Allow this incredible gift to explode in your heart, filling your mind with sweet peace, precious promises of being HIS CHILD……THIS I KNOW. Only you can accept this gift of love, only you can open, allowing the contents of that gift, to permeate your heart, ONLY YOU!
