Oh no, not another chapter with a bunch of names I can’t even pronounce. What does these names have to do with Nehemiah building this wall? What could I possible gain from my reading today? Is it one of those days, I read, just to read. But wait, what is that hidden gem? Nehemiah 12:36b says, “with musical instruments prescribed by David, the man of God.”
The phrase, “the man of God”, leaped off the page. My thoughts immediately went to David. Also known as a “man after God’s own heart.” But Lord, David also committed adultery. He had Uriah murdered. Many of his children chose evil instead the ways of the Lord. Yet he is known as a man of God! Oh, Father, how my heart yearns to be a woman of God. A woman who is all in for you, a woman who chooses joy, a woman that loves as you love. Again, my thoughts back to David. If God used David, with all his imperfections, with all his baggage, he can use me. Imperfect me. God will use imperfect us, to carry out HIS PERFECT PLAN and with this little gem from Nehemiah, my heart smiles.
