August 28th is a very exciting day for me. No, it is not my birthday. Not even our anniversary. It is my Romans 8:28 day. I look, with almost giddy joy, for the arrival of this day. You may ask why??

On August 28, 2009, God had something very special he wanted to teach me. There were times I struggled with not teaching in a school setting. I loved teaching, but God had allowed me to be a wife and mother that worked from home, with a lot of flexibility. This was one of those days, questioning had I missed my vocation purpose. As I sat at my Father’s feet, with my Bible and devotional journal in my lap, prayed for what God had for me that day. I opened my devotional journal, August 28, titled, Working Women. Got my attention, read and wrote in the journal. Got my Bible to turn to the passage that was recommended to read. I took hold of my Bible and it opened to page 779. In my Bible, there are short devotionals intermingled throughout. There on that page a devotional titled, “For Showing Me Purpose,” by Marjorie Holmes. Again, got my attention. As I read that devotion, it spoke to my heart. I had questioned my purpose. Had I missed somehow by not teaching? I began to write out some thoughts on that very page. When I finished, I dated it in big numbers. The picture above is the page from my Bible. It was when I wrote the date, another one of those lightning bolt times. I stated to myself, 8-28, 8-28. My heart racing as I immediately thought of Romans 8:28. One of the verses that I have memorized, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose.”

My special GOD MOMENT that He had for me. Orchestrated by Him. He is in control of EVERYTHING, the calendar, Bible verse “address”, the pages in my Bible, my scheduled reading. There waiting for me! I would have missed this gem had I not taken the time to sit at his feet on August 28, 2009.

Since that time that God so lovingly gave answers to my questioning heart, I with eagerness look forward to my Romans 8:28 day.

I would love to hear of your special moments that God has orchestrated just for you. Those times encourage our hearts. Remember JOINWITHME.Life is a journey. We, together with God’s help, can encourage each other. I look forward to hearing from you!
