Recently, while riding my bike, a song on my device caught my attention. It was entitled “My Lighthouse.” There are several reasons, because lighthouses have been on my mind lately. Here’s why. This summer, I heard Hank Hanegraaff, the Bible Answer Man, make a statement regarding the culture of the day: “Don’t curse the darkness, but rather build a lighthouse.” It made so much sense to me. I’ve stated the foundation for JoinWithMe.life is bringing Jesus to a dark world. I have said, and stand by the statement, that Jesus is the answer for every situation. Either as Savior for those that need salvation, or as Lord, for every believer that needs help, encouragement, and wisdom.
Donna and I feel passionately that our purpose in life is to bring the Light (Jesus) to a dark world. It is easy to get angry at the things happening around us, whether political or acts of violence against others. I am very thankful for those that God has called to get involved politically. I am also thankful for those that protect and help us on a daily basis. We believe our role is to bring Jesus to the darkness and JoinWithMe.life is our platform to accomplish that.
Think about light and how it affects us every day. I’m an early riser, so I encounter darkness every morning in what I do. I use the light on my watch to guide me through the dark room. This also keeps me from waking my wife! When you turn on a light switch in a dark room, you have light. We use it every day. Light always overcomes darkness. Never forget that the Scripture states that “men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil,” (John 3:19). The Scripture also states in John 8:12, “Jesus is the light of the world.” In John 5:16, we are commanded to let our light shine to bring glory to the Father.
Having said that, I am trying to bring Jesus to a dark world. I talked to a very good friend today going through some tough times. His wife is battling cancer, and at the same time his son is getting married, his daughter is having a baby. Then, to add to that, his mother-in-law is going through serious health issues. Wow! Any of that is difficult, but all at the same time. I shared with him that they need Jesus, not just as a Savior because they know Christ as Savior, but they need the comfort that Jesus brings. I felt good saying that, because I believe it.
Every situation I face personally, I remind myself that Jesus is my answer. What I have found throughout my life is that while I believe that Jesus is the answer, I also want what I want! I want Jesus to give it to me now. You see, while the dark world doesn’t want the true answer, which is Jesus, sometimes, we as believers want our needs to be met. We just don’t want to seek Him first. I say that from experience because much of my life has been spent living just that way.
The tag line for JoinWithMe.life is Seeking Life Together. So, what I’m trying to teach and live is to seek the Father first. Trust Him to give me those things I need in His time, His way. So back to the song I mentioned, “My Lighthouse.” There is a phrase that says, “Jesus is my peace in a troubled sea.” He is my lighthouse, that is always there, always stable. My goal is to seek the Father and bring light to the darkness.
I hope this makes sense. To keep it simple… no matter where you are in life, JESUS IS YOUR ANSWER.
