Have you ever had a time you do something as you normally do and with frustration do it a different way only to find out that you liked that second way better. Well I had that experience this week due to the weather.
I normally go a particular way while running on Thursday. But due to the weather had to completely change my route and plan for the day. I was so frustrated but determined to get my run done, that by doing it the way out of my frustration, was one of the best running decisions I’ve made.
Now this thought doesn’t have as much to do about running as it does about my thought process. In other words, how often do I get so set in what I want, failing to realize that God may have something even better. I simply must be open to trusting Him.
What I’m really talking about is life not running. I came away from that Thursday run, with this thought, Lord what do you have for me that’s better than what I know? Well, I can’t say that I have the answer to that, but I will say, for me, it is an attitude change. I recently heard a statement, “Are you willing to take God serious and trust Him completely.” Taking God seriously; about what He says, what He can do, how much He loves me, and on and on. I read this week in Ezekiel 12:28, “Whatever word I speak will be performed.” We know this to be true from creation. God said, “Let there be light and there was light.”
What is God saying to you? What has He said to you this week in His Word? He reminded me that whatever He says, will be performed, and Oh, what He said to me! The real question is will I believe Him? One thing, for sure, that I have learned is that God may have some things better for me than what I know. Will I trust Him completely? Will you join with me as I continue to learn how to live the abundant life?
