I have the privilege to “edit” Rayburn’s weekly emails. I put that in quotation marks, because I do not consider myself an editor. While reading Rayburn’s email, putting a comma here, correcting a word, sometimes the presentation gets in the way of the content. I can be looking so hard for an error that I mess the message.
Sunday mornings, I choose to do my Bible reading later in the day. I hate to read in haste, being under a time crunch to get to church. This afternoon I decided to work on Rayburn’s email first, then have my Bible time.
Rayburn made a statement in his email, “To live and become like Christ doesn’t actually involve doing, it involves a change of heart.” And then the gut punch, “If we are not careful, our heart is formed by the world and not by God.”
My Bible reading for today was in I John 2. It is an inward transformation that will result in our outward fruit. It is that inner change, a heart like Jesus, a heart focused on “WHOSE” we are and not what we do. This heart change will result in the outward being done as Jesus would do, naturally with HIS LOVE!
I have some serious heart searching to do! Please Father, shine Your Light in the corridors of my heart, exposing where change is NEEDED! My desire, is to have a heart like yours.
