It was just a kind gesture, but one that touched my soul and gave me the bases for this writing. I had asked the Lord this morning for something special from him. My heart smiles at the simple, yet meaningful ways he shows his love and a big portion of that time, he uses OTHERS.

Heart stirrers! How could these little plastic stirrers touch my heart enough that I would write about them. Yes, I do love them, but it was the kind gesture of the Southwest flight attendant that God used to make my heart smile.
As I was boarding, the flight attendant and I had a brief exchange and I casually mentioned that I loved their coffee and the little heart stirrers. Of course, I ordered coffee when she came by. When she brought my coffee, it not only had one stirrer, but SIX. Her smile as she handed me the coffee, the six stirrers smiling back at me made my heart smile. As I enjoyed this warm treat, I closed my eyes and pondered the small things that makes my heart jump with glee.

What makes your heart smile? What thrills the soul that lies deep within? So often we are so busy doing life, that the small things go un-noticed. I had read that we are to enjoy the small things in life because one day we will look back and realize they were the big things. It is often the little things that will give us hope and strength to keep on keeping on! You just may find yourself holding on to what you had been given instead of focusing on what YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE MISSING! Once this is an established practice, it will assist in building that joyful life.

I am smiling as I think about the little things such as a baby’s laugh. It not only makes me smile, but I too find myself laughing. The two arm bear hugs from my precious grandchildren as they exclaim, “Grandma, you are the bestest! We love you Grandma.” My grandchildren making me smile, yes, a book could be written. A simple sweet note from my husband, they are not only kept in my special drawer, but are kept in the special place of my heart, that is his. Finding a penny in a public place and realizing, I am a penny “richer.” Today, God sweetly used my family to make me smile. Yes, a big heart smile. I love Sunday dinners at the Hare home. They were gathered in our family room, laughter and love flowing. Made me smile. My daughters and grandchildren coming in and out of the kitchen to help and as I stood at the stove, I took a second and breathed in the aroma of family and yes brimmed with joy. What is coming to your mind? What is bringing those smiles? I would love to hear from you and just maybe you could help me write a book. A book that contains splashes of joy. Stories of times gone by or as close as today that are filled with loving smiles.

Have a smile to share, would be honored to hear from you!
