I am reading in The Gospel of Mark. Jesus being God, in the flesh, is dealing with his disciples; earthly, imperfect souls, JUST LIKE ME.

Jesus, who is God, gives a glimpse into HIS AMAZING POWER. In the beginning chapters, the disciples witness demons being cast out, the lame healed, the blind to see, the dead given life. They witnessed the feeding of the multitude with five loaves and two small fish. Then to witness, amid turbulent waters, Jesus walking on that water. Again, transcending all nature, because HE IS GOD. They witnessed him getting in the boat, and all is still. Then the next thing they knew, they were at the shore. Can only imagine the look on their face and the questions in their hearts.

The disciples, Jesus chosen few, still had the audacity to question how they were going to feed ANOTHER MULTITUDE, as stated in Mark 8:6, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them”? Was their memory so short, the MIRACLES so faded? These miracles, mentioned in the previous chapters, were not ones that they had heard about. They were MIRACLES that they had personally witnessed with their eyes, touched with their hands.

It is easy to scrutinize them. If that would have been me, I would have said, “You fed the last multitude. Let us go and find a few loaves of bread and fish, you bless, and we will go to work.” Really? Is that REALLY how I would have responded? My responses NOW, gives incite to my answer. How often have I seen God work, yes, even witnessing GOD MIRACLES? Yet, I still question and state my concerns. I fret and yes sometimes fume. I tell God that yes, I have experienced you, BUT!

As I write this my heart is grieved over my lack of belief. I allow anxious thoughts to creep into the gallows of my mind, which ROBS ME OF JOY and yes, attacks my faith.

God longs for us to want HIM for who HE is and not just for what He can do. I believe this is what he desired for his disciples. It is what he desires for us, TODAY. For them, it was a maturing of the heart, same goes for me, for you.

God longs to be God in our lives, not for what He can accomplish, BUT FOR WHO HE IS, GOD ALMIGHTY!
