Do you ever have those days that just starts out bad and ends bad? Now please hear me out, I’m not talking about those days that tragedy may cause you to have a bad day through a terrible event or even bad news of some kind that rocked your world. Those times create more than just a bad day. I’m talking about when you get up and your back hurts, and you get to the sink to shave and drop your razor and it goes into a place that you have to get on your hands and knees to find, and don’t forget your back hurts. Then you finally get to your computer and of course you can’t type, every key you hit seems wrong, and you know that it’s just going to be one of those days. You get to work, and nothing changes. Everything that can go wrong seems to and the snow ball effect is rolling along. Even later in the day you get ready to go on a long bike ride on one of the hottest days of the year and you forgot your water bottle. OK you get the idea.
The question is what do you do? How do you act though out the day when you know it’s just not working today? Are you angry, irritated, moody? I’m describing a day I had recently that caused me to think about what’s happening. I know I can’t control the events and happenings of life, and I know when I’m just having a bad day. I’ve been in the real estate business for over 30 years and I’ve seen agents have bad days. I’ve seen arguments, things thrown, tires burning and people you just don’t want to be around when things are going wrong. I want you to realize those days have a purpose in our lives.
I think there are two ways to approach those days. You can say to the Father, “I know you’re in control and I trust You to help me to get through this day, in Your strength.” Or you can just make everyone around you miserable and make a mess that will take you a long time to clean up, by things you said that you regret or even things that you did. Sadly, to say, I’ve acted out both of those scenarios. I still regret some things I’ve done and said during those periods. But I also found myself saying “Father this is a day you made and thank you for allowing me to live with the knowledge that, You’re in control. The basis for that truth is found in Psalms 118. Did you know the Bible also says in that chapter, “From my distress I called upon the Lord?” In fact, all through that chapter it talks about finding our strength in God. What I try to do is thank God for being all that I need. The very next day, God gave me Psalms 118 in my normal Bible reading schedule just to remind me, He is for me. Guess what? You’re going to have more of those days. When you do I hope you’ll stop and realize what’s happening and know that God is in control and He loves you so much that He’s trying to teach you about Himself.
JoinWithMe.life is a site about life and being fulfilled as a person. I know that involves a lot of moving parts and I’m trying to learn day by day what God has for me and how I fit in His world. Seeking Life Together is the tag line for this site, and I assure you I’m living this life just like you are. I have issues and problems to deal with every day. I absolutely cannot make it without the Father and His Word. But what I’m learning is that to be all that God wants me to be involves the struggles as well as the blessings of life. Seek Him first and trust Him for what your day may bring and He promises to be all you need. I suppose it would be appropriate here to say “Have a good day”
