What if I said, “The answer to every prayer is more of the Holy Spirit.” I first heard that statement from Mark Batterson, in his book “If.” It’s no accident the very day I read that statement, I go to church and my Pastor speaks about the Holy Spirit. It’s never an accident when those things happen in our lives.  They are what I call God moments. My wife writes about those moments, and when they happen, they are special!

The Holy Spirit is not just some mystical figure that is spooky. He’s real! He’s a person! When you trust Jesus as your Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in you.

If you’ve been around church as much as I have, you’ve learned that truth, heard that truth, and read that truth. I know you may believe it, but the real question is, do you live it? The whole premise for JoinWithMe.life is seeking life together and as I’ve said often, Jesus is the answer to every question and situation in life. I believe that, and I believe more of the Holy Spirit is what I desire and long for, even if I don’t live that way. So, the question is, why wouldn’t I Iive that way, or why don’t you live that way? It’s because we battle the flesh, which works contrary to the Spirit. It’s the battle that takes place in us every day. You can read about that battle in Galatians 5. It’s that battle that we can only win through the power of Jesus, and that power, He lives in me, and He so desires to live in you!

It sounds simple to me, and I believe every word of the Bible, but it is a process to live that way. Here’s what I am learning about life: The more I submit myself to the Holy Spirit, how He leads, how He speaks, how He convicts, and the host of other things He will do, the more satisfaction and peace I receive from life. I go back to the opening statement in this article: “The answer to every prayer is more of the Holy Spirit.” If you need help, He is the helper. If you need to make a decision, He will give wisdom, if you ask for it. If you need love, just look at the fruit of the Spirit and you’ll find, He is love. If you need patience, He gives patience. What about the ability to control yourself or your appetites? He gives self-control. The fruit of the Spirit can be found in Galatians 5 and here’s the neat thing about life, He is in me, ready, willing and able to meet every need that I have because He can, and even wants to. But there is the self part that also wants its way. That’s the battle. Are you fighting the battle? If you’re not fighting, you’re losing. I know what it’s like to lose battles, and I know what’s it’s like to win some of those battles.

I want you to know that I am fighting that battle! What I’m finding in this fight is that Jesus is in me and for me. What a truth and shame on me if I don’t live that truth.

I’ll be teaching more about the Holy Spirit, as I learn, in the weeks to come. Stay tuned for more, and thank you for staying plugged in. I would love to hear what God is doing in your life. Please share.
