You want me to do what Lord? A battle in my heart as I was trying to get out the door. Again, I battled. Lord, it is Saturday morning, Garage Sales tugging at me. Treasures to be found, BUT ONLY IF I LEAVE NOW! My hand on the door knob and that still small voice resounding, “But what about the treasures that I have for you. Everlasting treasures found by spending time with me.” My hand on the door knob, I made a choice. I turned around, gathered my bible, journal and sat at my Father’s feet. When I was finished, I asked if it was ok for me to leave. My heart still leaps with joy with what I will share with you.
I decorate cakes. On this Saturday, I had a cake order ready to be picked up at 10 am. I would receive $35 for the cake. I only had a little time to do some treasure hunting and out the door I went. Just enough time for one stop. As I write this, tears flow as I remember my sweet treasure that God gave me.
I had wanted a settee for my parlor. I had looked at antique stores. The price tags, way more than I would ever pay. As I followed the garage sale signs, rounded the corner, sitting in the drive way of the sale, was a small vintage settee. As I got out of my car, I just knew the settee was already sold. The good stuff goes first. Approaching the settee, there was not a price nor a sold sign on it. I quickly found the lady in charge and asked if the settee was still available. She responded yes and that she only wanted $35. Again, the tears flow as I am reminded of the special treasure God had waiting for me. I do believe the settee would have had a sold sign and a price tag of $35 on it, had I not yielded to the small voice of Jesus. Jesus longing for me to realize that He is my first treasure. Choosing to sit at his feet, where heavenly treasures abound and in doing so, He knew he had an earthly treasure, waiting for me. The picture above is my settee, in my parlor, a sweet reminder of the morning, I choose to sit at my Father’s feet.
