When Rayburn and I were first married, I would run with him. I would do one mile, while he continued doing his five. At that time, Rayburn was a lean mean (sweet) machine. My running did not last long!

Me, I am a walker. I have a 5K done in 47 minutes, officially in the books. I would have finished sooner, if it wasn’t for all the hills! Then I have some unofficial recorded walks, ingrained in the gallows of my mind.

Kaylan and I were with Corbin’s baseball team in Sarasota, Florida. The two of us were dropped off in the beautiful, quaint town of Siesta Keys. Our ride stated they would return for us. We were finished, and so we called, called and called again. I told Kaylan that we could just take the bus back to the condo. That was a good plan, but the public buses were done for the evening. We started walking, taking in all the sites of this beautiful town and not to mention one of the top ten beaches in the world. Just a little over five miles we walked to our condo!

Then our famous, never-seemed-to-end family walk in St. Louis. Corbin served as leader of the pack, and we simply followed. This time, we could have taken a bus! The mileage logged that day was not calculated, but I know in my “walking” heart we did at least a 10K!

I know exercise is important. Even Paul speaks about running the race.
Hebrews 12:1-3, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
I Corinthians 9:24, 26a “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly”

What about Jeremiah!
Jeremiah 12:5b, “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses.” Compete with horses? I can’t even compete with humans!

And then there is Isaiah.
Isaiah 40:28-31, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Walk? Well, now we are getting somewhere!

It is true that whether walking, running or for some the mere moving of your arms, it is exercise. It is about doing!

With that stated, wish you were here, we would go for a walk. Just a mile or two and if we went too far, well now, there is Uber!
